(Postcards, for the most part, were“on hold” while we visited with the Colorado grandkids in Steamboat Springs and Boulder.) We toured the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. And finally—after all these years—we drove through the Garden of the Gods near Pikes Peak. It is no wonder that this view inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write the poem that became the lyrics for “America the Beautiful.”
With our Cheshire Cat adventure cut short, we visited friends in the Shenandoah Valley, stopped off at the Airstream factory for repairs to Ratherby, then headed to Michigan to visit family—and doctors! (Postcards were, for the most part, “on hold” while we actually visited with the Michigan grandkids!)
